Vantage Plane Plastics Negotiating With Luscombe Aircraft Corporation For Interior Production
    July 16, 2003

Last month Scott D. Brown, General Manager, and Dale Logsdon, Quality Control Manager, of Vantage Plane Plastics spent the day touring and in meetings with Luscombe Aircraft Corporation in Altus, OK. Mr. Brown said things went quite well and the Vantage Plane Plastics team is excited about this type certificated aircraft. Vantage Plane Plastics brings to the table an opportunity for developing a sophisticated interior for a very reasonable cost. Brown states “our business is the interior business and we have committed ourselves to providing the best service in the industry. Our design capabilities and manufacturing processes’ make us the ideal candidate for any company seeking interior fabrication. Additionally, combining our corporate capabilities and processes, makes us a driving force in the interior fabrication business.” One other exciting aspect, according to Brown, is that this is an opportunity for Oklahoma business’s to trade in Oklahoma. “Certainly our central location, in Alva, Oklahoma, provides favorable conditions for all of aviation.”

Luscombe has built an aircraft that has room for its passengers to sit comfortably, not in one another’s lap. A cabin width of 45.5 in. and height of 51.3 in. make the 11E the roomiest cabin in its class. Vantage Plane Plastics looks at this feature as “an opportunity to showcase an interior that is not only functional but also aesthetically appealing.” Many of the interiors in the market today seem to be an after thought and Luscombe has taken a proactive position by entering these negotiations with Vantage Plane Plastics.

As for the airplane, “I had recently completed the course work for private pilot ground school and flying in the Luscombe 11E, put to ease many of my anxieties” Brown said. He continued on saying that he “hopes to begin flight school in the near future and would be happy to have a plane such as the 11E to certify in. The stall conditions and slow speed flight characteristics of this plane are sure to be appealing to the expert pilot as well as the novice.” In fact, the FAA reported in part; “in spite of exhaustive attempts, it has not been possible to cause the airplane to enter a spin condition.” Logsdon, an expert pilot, was given an opportunity to take the pilot seat and was impressed with the overall flight characteristics and reported the plane to be easy to handle.

Keep your eyes out for continued updates on this very exciting business relationship. Those aviators attending Airventure this year should make it a point to visit Vantage Plane Plastics and Luscombe Aircraft Corporation.
