    INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
    FOR
    PIPER

    Part #RPF-300-1 - Drawing No. RPF-400-1

Remove the overhead trim piece that runs by the top of the windshield in front of the pilot and copilots position.

Take the NSA sunvisor unit marked "pilot" and holding it across the center of the aircraft just short of the centerline, mark the outboard fastener location. The bracket should be turned so that the wide lip is pointing to the rear of the aircraft. The mounting bracket should now be above and inboard of the trim piece on the window corner post.

Measure to the rear of the forward metal lip where you just marked the outboard hole .40" and double check that when the visor is held up to this position that the end of the lens is not across the centerline of the aircraft. The mark should not be on any existing rivits, but between or to one side of them.

    • Now install a AK80 rivnut supplied in the outermost hole location, using an appropriate rivnut puller.

    • Using the AN507 C 10/32 R16's provided, attach the outboard screw in the rivnut just installed and mark the inboard hole, keeping the same .40" distance from the edge of the lip.

    • Now repeat this for the copilots side, installing the rivnuts in the same manner.

    • Reinstall the overhead royalite trim piece and when in the proper place, feel for the head of the rivnuts and mark the center with a sharp object such as an awl. Loosen or remove the trim and drill a 7/32 hole as a clearance hole for the 10/32 machine screws. The 7/32 will give an oversize hole in case the alignment is not perfect.

    • Reinstall the trim and mount both pilots and copilots visor with the AN507 10/32 R16's provided.

    Using The System

To stow: Swing to the side and rotate tight to the overhead. In some Pipers, you may want to rotate up in front, but in many models the trim handle will be in the way.

To move: Your new Rosen NSA visor will move to just about any position that the sun will interfere with your vision and every axis can be adjusted with the allen wrenches provided for just the right feel for every individual.

If the mounting block for each visor has a slight rock to it, then the unit is moving slightly on the heads of the original structure rivits. If this is happening, remove the visor and the trim, and shim between the appropriate rivits to the level of their heads, but not to impede access to the rivnuts you have installed earlier.
