Installation Guidelines

AS EASY AS A.B.C. TO INSTALL IN YOUR AIRPLANE
A.R.F.C. TINTED REPLACEMENT SUN VISORS
Part No: 70200 and/or 70200F

First Check:
  Aircraft Model and Serial number

A-    Remove the ¼-20 screw in the bracket, holding the “Cessna Visor” with the appropriate
screw driver.

B-    Leave the bubble wrap on the ARFC Visor, (this will save clean up finger prints etc.)
REPLACE the Visor in the reverse sequence that you removed the Cessna Visor. Now tighten screw
just enough, so that the visor will rotate, but tight enough to remain in position. This might take a
few adjustments.

C-    Now: On the self-addressed pre-stamped card enter the date of installation: A/C Model
C-________________ N_________________ Serial ___________

D-    Repeat the information on the label below the post card, peel sticker and place in the
airframe log book. Last but not least, drop the pre-stamped post card in the mail box.

Properties: of Cast Acrylic Lucite L used in A.R.F.C. visors

-Outstanding weather resistance-Brilliant clarity-Chemical resistance-Smooth-Easy clean surface-Eliminates 95% of U.V. rays-

Cleaning and Care: Abrasive cleaners and some window cleaning compounds will scratch the surface of acrylic sheet. Do not use solvents such as, methyl alcohol, toluene, acetone, chlorinated solvents, dry-cleaning solutions, lacquer thinners, gasoline, etc. since they may damage the surface.

Dust and dirt can be removed with a soft, grit-free, nonlinting cloth dampened with clean water.

Grease and oil deposits can be removed with a naphtha, or isopropyl alcohol. (Caution both these substances have a very low flash point and are easily ignited. Use only in well ventilated areas).  Follow manufacturer’s directions for safe handling. Any good plastic cleaner such as: Permates 403D, Clearview, Plexus, LP Acrylic Polish and Sealant, may be used if you follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

Care of visors: As all transparent visors are made of plastic, if you should leave them in the down position for an extended length of time in the enclosed cabin of the aircraft, and the temperature gets excessively hot, the visors could warp or sag. If this problem happens, remove the affected visor from the aircraft and lay the visor on a smooth flat surface. The flat surface should be covered with a nonlinting, soft cloth to prevent marring of the heated visor. Carefully, using a heat gun or (hair dryer) carefully apply the heat, (not over 250 degrees Fahrenheit) until the visor lays flat. Let the material cool before you re-install the visor in the aircraft.

Re; Cessna Bracket, part number 0713011-12:

Some installers have had problems, getting the correct tension, on the 5/16 inch diameter aluminum tube when tightening the Philips head 1/4x 20 screws on the clamp. The 1/4x20 Philips Screw should be tightened, so that the 5/16 inch tube attached to the visor, rotates, but tight enough so that visor remains in position. This might take a few attempts to get the correct tension.

Some of the problems

  1. The clamp bracket as per sketch “A” The TAB.093 or 3/32 inches high might be broken off or bent. If the tab is missing, insert a filler 3/32 inches thick, to replace tab height.
  2. Is the bottom surface of clamp deformed?

It should be flat and parallel to upper surface. See sketch “A”.

  1. Is part shown in sketch “B” installed? This part holds a cage nut in place and is also prevents the clamp from, seizing on the clamp and preventing the visor was forced to pivot on the screw axis.
  2. If the clamp was too tight and the visor was forced to pivot on the 5/16 inch aluminum tube. The three 1/8 rivets as shown on the Installation Drawing 70000 rivets are made too shear, rather than break the visor. If this condition exists, carefully remove mandrills in rivets with a punch, then drill out the 1/8 inch rivets with a 1/8 inch drill. Install Number #6 Truss Head – Philips Head – Sheet Metal Screw – ¼ inch long.
